Wine Country Mini-Retreat

October 2020 - CANCELED

Location: Calistoga, CA

Since 2009 we've gathered annually for a one-day mini-retreat in the wine country. Calistoga is a lovely small town at the northern end of the Napa Valley, at the foot of Mt. St. Helena. There are many excellent restaurants and delis in town, but no fast food -- it's against the law! For those who wish to extend their wine country stay, we'll send a list of local accommodations when we accept your registration.

Owing to California's "shelter in place" policy during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Wine Country Mini-Retreat has been canceled.

Details

The 2020 Wine Country Mini-Retreat has been canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Wine Country Mini-Retreat is an annual examination of a banned book, a book that one or more organizations has tried to suppress. In the morning we start with a book discussion, and then after lunch we view and discuss a film adaptation.

The next Wine Country Mini-Retreat will be in 2021. Please check here later for the event date, the choice of book, and how to register.

In recent years at the Wine Country Mini-Retreat, we've enjoyed discussions of the book and film versions of Fahrenheit 451Animal Farm, Native SonLord of the Flies, All Quiet on the Western Front, Othello, and The Man Who Would be King.
